What are ASTM Level 3 Standards?

ASTM Level 3 is the highest level of protection among the three levels established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) for face masks.

Masks that meet or exceed ASTM Level 3 Standards provide the highest level of protection and are designed for use in healthcare settings where exposure to moderate to high levels of aerosols, sprays, and fluids is expected, and consist of the following criteria:

1. Bacterial Filtration Efficiency (BFE): The mask should have a BFE of ≥ 98%. This means it must be able to filter out at least 98% of bacteria present in the air, offering a higher level of protection compared to Level 1 and Level 2 masks.
